40th Anniversary Edition
In this special 40th anniversary edition of his groundbreaking work, James Macgregor Burns offers a comprehensive exploration of leadership that is as relevant and inspiring today as it was when it was first published.
Drawing on a wide range of historical and contemporary examples, Burns argues that leadership is not simply a matter of power and authority, but a complex and often transformative process that involves both leaders and followers. He identifies two distinct types of leadership: transactional leadership, which is based on exchanges of rewards and punishments, and transformational leadership, which is based on shared values and a common vision.
Burns argues that transformational leadership is the more effective and sustainable form of leadership, as it is able to inspire and motivate followers to achieve extraordinary results. He also emphasizes the importance of ethical leadership, and argues that leaders must be accountable to their followers and to the broader society.
Leadership is an essential read for anyone who wants to understand the nature and practice of leadership. It is a book that will inspire and empower leaders at all levels, and help them to make a positive difference in the world.
